The Spirit of Mary Series

Three reflective guides to help you live in the Spirit of Mary. You can experience a deeper spiritual life and accomplish many of the items on your ever-present to-do list. Life is busy, but busy doesn’t need to keep you from drawing closer to Christ.

As you get to know the woman who gave us the gift of our Savior, you’ll learn what it means to Pray, Ponder, and Act in the Spirit of Mary.

One: Pray

Discover a way of prayer that will allow you to give your heartfelt “Yes” to God.

The Spirit of Mary: Pray, is perfect for any woman interested in exploring Scripture in order to incorporate more prayer into her daily life.

In the pages of The Spirit of Mary: Pray you will—

  • See Mary as your spiritual mentor

  • Discover the power of adding a prayerful pause in the middle of your busy day;

  • Recognize the relationship between focus and triumphant trust in God;

  • Learn how false humility is undermining your prayer life as well as how to break your false humility habit; and

  • Create a place of prayer and overcome common struggles in prayer.

Two: Pondering

Develop the habit of thinking deeply with God.

Many women tell me that peace eludes them. Worry weighs us down during the day and keeps us up at night. It’s understandable that we’re distracted when our minds are occupied by a million little things. We struggle to take St. Paul’s advice to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. Romans 12:2.

The hidden things of heaven often lose out to the ever-present, visible tasks on our to-do list. And so, our daily tasks appear to be obstacles impeding our ability to access the deep well of supernatural strength that allowed Mary to trust God so consistently.

What if our daily tasks were just the thing God was using to call out and connect with us more meaningfully?

In the pages of Spirit of Mary: Ponder, you will—

  • Learn to gather your scattered thoughts to pay attention to the things that matter;

  • Become curious about finding beauty and goodness in each day;

  • Identify emotional walls that trap you in scarcity thought patterns;

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the power of Self-Compassion; and

  • Create new mental habits that allow you to see God in everything.

Three: Act

Appreciate the art of doing what He tells you in the hiddenness of ordinary life.

In the final installment of The Spirit of Mary series, we will explore what it means to respond to our prayer and pondering. Discovering what is ours to do is not always as straightforward as it might seem. There is an art to discerning how and when and whether we should take action.

In Act, we'll learn to recognize and overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of following Mary’s instruction to “do whatever He tells you”.

  • Discover the hidden and unknown way of action that reinforces the fabric of relationships.

  • Experience more joy in your current circumstances as you become less reactive and more attentive to God’s movements in your life.

  • Identify the religious rituals that support your connection to God and community.

  • Unearth the motivations hidden beneath unexamined habits.

  • Recognize ways in which People Pleasing or Perfectionism are undermining your relationship with God, yourself, and others.

  • Gain courage to become a compassionate presence to those in need.
